5th Grade Science
A fun and engaging exploration of physical and chemical changes, Earth's systems, and scientific reasoning for 5th grade students.
Basic Concepts
Earth's Systems
The Four Major Systems of Earth
Earth is made up of four main systems that interact with each other:
- Geosphere: The solid part of Earth (rocks, soil, mountains).
- Hydrosphere: All water (oceans, lakes, rivers, glaciers).
- Atmosphere: The layer of air surrounding Earth.
- Biosphere: All living things (plants, animals, humans).
How Do Earth's Systems Work Together?
These systems are always interacting. Rain (hydrosphere) falls on mountains (geosphere), helping plants grow (biosphere), and the air (atmosphere) carries seeds.
Why Are Earth's Systems Important?
Understanding Earth's systems helps us take care of our planet, protect water sources, and prepare for weather events.
Fun Fact
The water you drink today may have once been part of a cloud, an ocean, or even inside a dinosaur!
Examples
Plants using sunlight, water, and soil to grow.
Clouds forming and raining over forests.
In a Nutshell
Earth's systems are four parts that work together to support life.
