What Are Parts of Speech?
Words in sentences have different jobs! These jobs are called "parts of speech." Knowing them helps us build great sentences.
Main Parts of Speech
- Nouns: Name people, places, or things.
- Verbs: Show action or being.
- Adjectives: Describe nouns.
- Adverbs: Describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
- Pronouns: Take the place of nouns.
- Prepositions: Show the relationship between nouns or pronouns and other words.
- Conjunctions: Connect words or groups of words.
