Certified Tutor
I am a 2015 graduate of Texas Christian University with a double major in Economics and Political Science. I am currently an Associate Account Executive for Crystal & Company in the Employee Benefits department. While I was a student, I worked for 2 years as an in-home tutor for kids grades 6-12 and focused on study skills, organization and assistance with homework in math, English and Spanish and SAT preparation. During the fall of 2014 I worked with the TCU Athletics Department where I help the TCU Student-Athletes with Calculus and Economics. I enjoy tutoring both Math and English/writing because I am an analytical thinker and like to encourage students to challenge themselves and reach new goals. I was a Dean's List student for 6 semesters and have been awarded the Priscilla Tate research prize for Women and Gender studies at TCU as well as 2015 Texas A&M Outstanding Undergraduate Research prize for the Project for Equity.
Outside of work, I enjoy watching college football, being active outdoors and spending time with my friends. My experience as a tutor has helped me learn how to cater to different learning styles and has taught me how to approach issues from different angles. I am both prompt and professional and would love to help your child grow into a successful student.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I understand that each student is unique and has an individual learning style. I try to accommodate each person's needs in order to set attainable short and long-term goals .
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
A typical first session consists of meeting the parents to determine what their goals may be, introducing myself to the student and letting them know that I am there as both a teacher and mentor, and assessing the current status of the subjects that the student is needing help with.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Students can become successful independent learners once they gain important organization and planning skills. The student needs to be able to plan ahead, make a study schedule, and keep up with assignments and due dates- all of which I have an extensive experience in assisting with.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I believe that the best way to stay motivated is to see progress and success. I am a strong supporter of setting many short-term goals so that students can track their success and feel a sense of accomplishment.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
When a student is struggling with grasping a certain concept, it is best to approach the question from a different perspective. Perhaps work on similar problems that are slightly easier and then work your way up, or think of how to work the problem backwards if I can provide the answer to the question.
