My passion for teaching led me into a teacher education program and Grand Canyon University. After completing a teacher education program (with emphasis in mathematics education)I also enrolled in George Mason University to major in Mathematics.I am able to provide more comprehensive math lessons to secondary school students. I had an extensive experience in teaching IGCSE Geometry and Algebra II during my student teaching period. I also have two years of experience in preparing students for SAT Math. I have worked with children from different grade levels in both educational and non-educational settings.
I make math come to live by linking what I teach to real life application so that students enjoy the beauty of mathematics. Given my diverse background in business and science, I am able to use an interdisciplinary approach to make mathematics easy to understand. I believe in learning in a comfortable and convenient environment so I prefer to travel to my students' home or public places like the library. Students' have a 3-hour cancellation period that allows for more time for thinking and preparation.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My philosophy is that "Every student is capable of learning and achieving academic excellence given the right tutor, learning materials, and right of mind."
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
We will get to know each other very well, then set personal objectives to work towards. I will then build a strong background for the topic and take it from there, taking into consideration the student's needs.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I would like to assign homework and motivate students to complete all homework activities. I will also encourage students to work on problems from online resources.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Provide encouraging and motivational words to the student. I would gradually provide less difficult tasks to more difficult ones to motivate and challenge the student.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would break the concepts into smaller pieces and introduce them to the students gradually. I would also want to link every concept to real life situations, objects, etc., that the student can easily relate to.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I encourage them to read more to build their vocabulary.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
First, build a strong, trusting relationship with the student. Prepare adequately before you meet the student for each lesson. It is always good to be professional in all aspect of your interaction with the student.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
To do this, I would break each concept into smaller chunks and ensure that students understand and master a skill/concept before adding another chunk. I will start with easier problems to boost their morale and gradually move into difficult ones. As they get the easier questions right, it will motivate them to do more.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
I will use pop quiz, flashcards, and tests to ensure that the student understands the material.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Building a student's confidence in a subject is a gradual process. I want to work with the student to solve problems and gradually provide less support until he is able to solve the problems on his own. As the student solves the problems by himself, his confidence level goes up.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Every student knows himself better than others, so I want to talk to the students first to identify their needs then follow it up with a pre-assessment test/quiz to identify the student's strengths and weaknesses.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I always want to know the learning style of my students during our first meeting. I then employ a suitable teaching style to meet the student's learning style.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I typically use textbooks, sample standardized test questions, and Internet resources during my tutoring session.
