The ACT Science section isn't really a science test — it's a test of how quickly you can read graphs, interpret conflicting viewpoints, and pull the right data from dense passages. Eric scored a 36 ACT composite and teaches students to treat each passage like a business case: identify what's being measured, find the trend, and answer without overthinking. That systematic approach turns a section most students dread into one of their most reliable score boosters.

Sreya treats the ACT Science section as a data interpretation exercise, not a science quiz — which is exactly what it is. Her chemistry background at the University of Michigan means she's comfortable with the conflicting viewpoints passages that trip up most students, but she emphasizes that graph-reading speed and experimental design logic matter far more than content knowledge. Rated 5.0 by students.
I am a patient, intellectual, and calm college student at the University of Michigan passionate about tutoring others to improve their proficiency in a wide variety of subjects. I teach students by creating individualized plans that cater to the strengths and weaknesses of the student. I work hard and as long as it takes to ensure that the student derives maximum benefit. I love teaching a wide variety of subjects, and have a speciality in standardized tests.
The ACT Science section is really a data interpretation test disguised as science, and Samantha approaches it that way. She teaches students to read graphs, compare experimental setups, and identify trends without getting lost in unfamiliar terminology. Her biology background at Michigan means she can also unpack the actual science when a passage requires deeper content knowledge.
I am a chemistry/math tutor with hundreds of hours teaching both subjects. What separates me from other tutors is my fantastic attention to the learning styles of different students, and my ability to attune my teaching style to each individual student. I am a big believer in letting students utilize tutoring time in the way they believe best, and I try to make myself a resource more than an instructor, which reinforces good study habits as well as lets me help the student with subject material. I will be attending the University of Michigan to major in Mathematics in the Fall.
The ACT Science section barely tests science knowledge — it tests whether a student can read a dense graph, compare two experimental setups, and draw conclusions under time pressure. Raveena's bioinformatics training means she interprets data sets daily, and she walks students through a systematic approach to parsing tables and conflicting viewpoints passages fast.
The ACT Science section isn't really a science test — it's a data interpretation test disguised as one. Krisha scored a perfect 36 ACT composite and teaches students to read graphs, compare experimental setups, and identify conflicting viewpoints quickly without getting bogged down in scientific jargon. Her biology background at the University of Michigan means she can also clarify the actual science when a passage requires it.
Two years teaching high school biology and chemistry in a real classroom gave Mathew a front-row seat to exactly where students misread graphs, confuse variables, and panic over unfamiliar experiments. He treats ACT Science as a data interpretation exercise, drilling students on how to extract trends from figures without getting lost in scientific jargon. His 35 ACT composite shows the approach works.
The ACT Science section barely tests science knowledge — it's really about reading graphs, interpreting data tables, and comparing experimental designs under time pressure. Sophia scored a 36 composite by treating it exactly that way, and she teaches students to extract trends and relationships from figures before even glancing at the answer choices.
The ACT Science section is really a data interpretation exam disguised as biology and chemistry. Anusha teaches students to ignore jargon they don't recognize and instead extract answers directly from graphs, tables, and experimental setups — a skill that turns a stressful section into one of the easiest to improve. She scored a 35 composite on the ACT herself.
I am a current sophomore at Yale University, studying Environmental Engineering and Global Affairs. I spent four years tutoring K-12 students in reading and math, and I believe in the importance of appreciating the process of learning and mastering concepts.
I am very excited to be a part of Varsity Tutors because it is my belief that everyone has the capability to succeed in school, even if they need a little extra help to get there. Quality education is absolutely essential in making sure a child is prepared for their future career. I love working with students and seeing them triumph over areas they were once struggling with.
I am a learner for life and I love sharing my knowledge with others. I have tutored middle-school students for one year and university students for two years. My focus is mainly on mathematics, chemistry, and related fields. I have degrees in both mathematics and biomedical engineering so I cover a lot of ground in the physiological sciences, computer programming, and statistics as well. Taking tests is one of my strong points and I have some killer strategies to share!
I am currently a student at Columbia University studying Biomedical Engineering. Throughout high school, I tutored my peers in math, science, and standardized testing and found that I loved seeing my students passionate about what they are learning. Outside of tutoring, you can find me exploring the outdoors or tasting the newest restaurants in NYC.
I am a current undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I am a Biochemistry major and Philosophy minor, with years of experience tutoring students. Through high school, I tutored kids in the ACT, math, science, literature, and debate. My favorite subject to tutor is Chemistry, as I have taken Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry(1 and 2). I believe that tutoring is a two way street, with the student learning about the material, but the teacher learning about how the student interacts with the material. Due to this, I am a very hands-on tutor who is always available for a text/call outside of class. Outside of academia, I am a singer and have been for 13 years now - a choir singer for 7 years and now in a premier acapella group at the University of Michigan.
The ACT Science section barely tests science knowledge — it's really about reading graphs, interpreting conflicting viewpoints, and extracting data under pressure. As a Cornell pre-med student who earned a 35 ACT, Pratik teaches students to ignore the intimidating terminology and zero in on axes, trends, and experimental variables. That shift in approach alone often unlocks five or more additional points.
Most students panic when they see ACT Science passages full of unfamiliar experiments, but the section barely tests science knowledge — it tests whether you can read graphs, compare data trends, and evaluate conflicting hypotheses under pressure. Nishika treats it as a data-interpretation exercise, teaching students to ignore jargon and zero in on what the figures actually show. Her 35 ACT composite speaks to how well that approach works.
The ACT Science section is really a data interpretation exam disguised as science — success depends on reading graphs, comparing experimental setups, and drawing conclusions fast. Vikhyathi scored a 35 composite and, as a neuroscience major constantly analyzing research data, she teaches students to extract exactly what each question asks from dense figures and tables without getting lost in scientific jargon.
I'm a sophomore at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and I'm majoring in Business Administration at the Ross School of Business. I was a member of the peer tutorial service at my high school, Detroit Country Day School. Thank you!
I am very creative, enthusiastic and hard-working, which I believe to be vital characteristics to bring to a tutoring session.
Most students panic when they see the ACT Science section's data-heavy graphs and conflicting viewpoints, but Jack's biomedical engineering background means he reads experimental data the way most people read a menu. He teaches students to ignore the jargon and zero in on variables, trends, and relationships — the three things nearly every question actually tests.
I'm Anya, and I'm currently a student at the University of Michigan who's passionate about sharing my knowledge. I am outgoing and extremely patient, and I want to help you strengthen your weaknesses and enhance your strong suits. Everyone has a different approach to learning new things, and I know how to explain topics from different angles so that they are easier to understand. My favorite subjects to tutor are science, Spanish, and standardized tests, but I can cater to a variety of other areas as well.
I am currently a student at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. I am working on my third year in the Bachelors of Business Administration program. Throughout my time in both college and high school I have experienced the frustration and pains of students, whether it be myself or my friends. I have always helped my friends with the subjects they struggled with (Calculus, ACT science, Economics, etc.) because I want to see them succeed. I decided to become a tutor to help others succeed as well. I teach ACT, SAT, Statistics, Economics, Business, Math, English, Environment Science, Reading, Writing, and Essay Editing. I especially enjoy teaching Essay Editing, Reading, and Writing because there is more flexibility and opportunity to add your own style into these subjects. Outside of school I enjoy playing tennis, working out, DJing and cooking.
I am an excellent resource for students of all ages!
Scoring well on ACT Science has less to do with knowing biology or chemistry and more to do with reading graphs, interpreting data tables, and spotting trends under time pressure. Alexandra treats it as a data literacy exercise, teaching students to extract the right information fast without getting lost in unfamiliar terminology. Her 33 ACT composite and 5.0 rating speak to how well that approach works.
I'm Gurbani, and I am a current fourth-year medical student that would love to give back to other students and help them get into a position like I am today.
The ACT Science section barely tests science knowledge — it's really about reading graphs, interpreting conflicting experimental results, and drawing conclusions under a tight clock. Griffin's 33 ACT composite reflects his comfort with exactly this kind of data-driven reasoning, and he shows students how to extract answers directly from figures without getting lost in unfamiliar terminology.
The ACT Science section barely tests science knowledge — it's really about reading graphs, interpreting conflicting experiments, and pulling data points under time pressure. Maansi walks students through how to decode figure labels and trend lines before even looking at the questions, a technique that dramatically cuts down on wasted time. Her 33 ACT composite reflects how well this data-first approach works across the whole exam.
I'm a recent graduate from Reed College where I majored in Political science with additional concentrations in environmental science, sociology, philosophy, and 3D art.
I am an artist and journalist from Ann Arbor, MI attending Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. I'm excited to work with students in my area and online.
The ACT Science section looks intimidating, but it's really about reading graphs, interpreting data tables, and following experimental setups — skills Alec uses every week in his Michigan engineering labs. He strips away the scientific jargon and shows students how to extract answers directly from the figures, which is where nearly every question lives.
I am a very strong writer, communicator, and a huge science geek. I've also spent years coaching elementary and middle school students in various sports, and have found fulfillment and success working with all age ranges.
I am a graduate of the University of Michigan where I double majored in Biomolecular Science and Economics on a pre-med track. I enjoy working with students as my past teaching experiences have led me to work with all ages. In my free time, I like to follow and play sports and listen to music.
I am a current Senior at the University of Michigan studying Financial Mathematics. I have tutored professionally for 2 years as well as independently for 3 years. I am tutoring math as well as basic C++. My teaching philosophy is to teach you how to learn rather than give you the answer. Outside of tutoring I love snowboarding, traveling, photography, and reading.
I am currently a freshman studying business at the University of Michigan. I love Ann Arbor, but my first home is Chicago! I enjoy a lot of subjects but my favorites are economics and math, and more recently I have enjoyed programming. I hope I can help you to the best of my ability!
Most of the ACT Science section isn't really about science — it's about reading graphs, interpreting experimental setups, and comparing competing hypotheses under time pressure. Kirby's biochemistry training at Michigan gave her years of practice doing exactly that with real data, and she teaches students to attack each passage type with a specific strategy. Rated 4.9 by students.
I am a lifelong learner interested in inspiring others to cultivate a similar drive. I look forward to meeting with you!
I am a senior at the University of Michigan, in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry. As a student, I have a well-rounded academic history with interest in a range of different subject areas including: history, English, writing, math, science, and computer skills. My goal as a tutor is to help you learn the material and have some fun while doing it. As such, I am flexible with schedules and platforms (online vs in-person) and am available Monday-Friday afternoon/ evenings and possibly some weekend times upon request\*. Furthermore, I am also flexible with content/styles of sessions and can change the focus or style (ie: content review, homework help, general conceptual lectures, etc) accordingly to meet individual needs. Outside of academia I enjoy camping, hiking, reading (books and science papers), playing video games, and watching sports (basketball and football). I also have experience in assisting people with "mental blocks", testing anxiety, and related feelings of academic failure. I am open to sharing both my personal experience through my academic journey as well as hearing yours and offering advice if so desired. At the end of the day, I love to learn and it brings me happiness to be able to help others have that same feeling of success in academics. Whether you need more lecturing, problem solving help, mentoring, etc. I will do my best to cater to your specific learning needs. I look forward to working with you!
I am a recent graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus on literature and History. I also minored in Museum Studies. Since graduation, I have been working as substitute teacher in the Detroit area. Subbing has been a fantastic learning opportunity for me and has taught me much about becoming a better teacher. While I am comfortable tutoring in many different subjects, my primary passion has always been for History, English, and Literature. I find the most effective tutoring style is to break down the problem into its simplest parts and then build it back up in a more easily understandable way. I have always loved both History and English, and I always try to find a way to make these subjects as interesting and fun as possible.
