I graduated with bachelor of arts degrees in communications, arts, and sciences with a focus on rhetoric and public relations and a minor in international studies from Penn State University. Currently, I am working on obtaining a certificate to become a registered dietitian and eventually a master of science degree in dietetics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I have been teaching psychology at CCAC since January of 2014, and I love to teach. Additionally, I have worked with special needs children for two years before this, including clients with psychological disorders such as autism and ADHD. I try to take a fun, interactive approach to teaching. Because of my psychological training, I am very familiar with concepts and behavioral techniques on how to optimize study time, as well as how to calm test anxiety. I love teaching psychology because it relates to the real world, but I also enjoy tutoring in math and writing. My favorite part about tutoring is empowering students to think for themselves and building confidence in their skills. Outside of school and my jobs, I love to sing and have taken several years of voice lessons. I also love to cook. I spend a lot of time trying out new, healthy meals to cook. I also love to spend time outside and play sports. I have played intramural kickball and football. I love to travel as well (specifically to warm places in the winter) and love learning about other cultures. I also love watching movies and tv on the couch with my fiance. I have a very wide educational background, and I believe firmly in the value of education. I love helping others to learn and to feel good about themselves and their ability in an educational atmosphere.
