That is why I choose to help others, whether it's through volunteer activities or employment. For the last 10 years I have volunteered at the Islip Fire Department, where helping others in my community has been a tremendously rewarding experience. During my previous career in the banking industry, I taught people how to make a budget for their expenses and become financially literate. I worked in banking for 9 years and educating people about finance brought me back to my original career choice, math education. One of the best ways to help someone is to educate them. Knowledge gives individuals the power to help themselves and others as well.
