I am passionate about teaching early readers and writers because I truly believe these skills are the foundation of a successful academic career and life. I tutor reading and writing for grades K-2, and can support your child in learning how to decode more fluently, build deep comprehension of a text, and also be able to articulate strategies they use and apply them to a variety of texts. I received a B.A. in childhood education from SUNY Oneonta (Oneonta, NY) and an M.A in early childhood education from Relay Graduate School of Education (New York, NY). I have spent the last 4.5 years as a teacher and instructional leader at a charter school in Brooklyn, NY. I taught kindergarten and supported novice teachers in achieving professional development goals using a yearlong professional development trajectory that included both classroom management and instructional skills. My favorite subject to teach is early reading because there is nothing that makes my heart happier than seeing a child learn how to read for the first time! I bring the joy because learning is fun, but I also set the bar high and reinforce the habit of showing grit. Outside of academia, my hobbies include traveling the world, exercising, spending time on the beach, and making delicious and healthy meals!
