About Me
Currently I am a tutor and a writer. I worked with elementary students of all ages. I also assisted in coordinating adult education programs at a community college. Through a local workforce board position, I taught adult learners. My Bachelor degree is from the University of Maryland in Elementary Education and I acquired a Master's Degree in Counselor Education from Duquesne University. Post Master's coursework took place at the University of Denver in Higher Education and I am currently finishing a class in English as a Second Language. I am a lifelong learner. I believe it is important to respect each student's uniqueness. Helping students grow academically and seeing their confidence levels increase in their learning environments are important goals for me. I enjoy tutoring a variety of subjects including basic reading skills and specific elementary math skills and others as needed. I love teaching reading to all ages and seeing skill development, especially in comprehension. One of my first published works focused on classroom ideas from my first hand experience. I also co-authored a book about using sports statics in basic elementary math. The idea was born from a student I tutored many years ago.
Hobbies & Interests
I love the outdoors and hiking in many different areas. I also enjoy cross country skiing. In recent years, I've participated in many walk/run events. Reading and word games are also some of my favorite pastimes.
