About Me
Hello! I am currently obtaining an MS in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University in the City of New York and hoping to attend medical school after. I have extensive experience teaching starting as early as middle school, where I volunteered at my local elementary school and helped teach math and science to third-grade students. For about six years, I learned to cater to each student's learning style, find ways to explain concepts in a simple manner and work to create a comfortable environment for both the students and their parents. I have volunteered as an ACT tutor in college for four years and have helped improve my students' scores. More importantly, I helped my students gain a deeper understanding of the material and helped improve their confidence for the test. I would always begin my sessions by asking my students about their week. Over time, this helped create an open environment, and it encouraged my students to make mistakes to learn from them. I also have extensive experience in essay editing since I worked as a writing consultant for college students. My position allowed me to work and help both native English speakers and non-native English speakers. My experiences with different ages groups have made me highly adaptable, and I would love to work with anyone! I am very flexible and accessible and would love to answer any questions when the student or the parent needs help. Thank you!
