About Me

I love math, computers, and music! My bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees focused on music education, and music composition using computers. My special focus has been combining math and music. To me, math is a puzzle. All you need to do is learn how to put the pieces together. I can help with that! I was a university professor for 18 years at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, Dartmouth College, and most recently Florida International University. I left college teaching in 2010 to start the Atala Montessori School for Creative Expression in Homestead, FL. I taught 4th through 8th grade math classes for in-person and online students for the last eight years. The 7th grade class was pre-Algebra and the 8th grade class was Honors Algebra I. I also ran after-school chess and math clubs.
