About Me
After, teaching elementary students for five years I received my Master of Arts in Human Services at Southeastern University. I have continued to work with students in elementary and I believe they are my calling. As an elementary student I had difficulties in reading and felt the stress of not being on the same level as my peers. Now, I can use my experiences to help the students I work with grow into strong, confident scholars. Currently, I teach fifth grade and have taught first through fifth grade. Teaching whole group lessons is part of my daily routine, but working with students one on one and independently is where my students seem to excel. During small group lessons, I am able to meet the students' specific needs and can facilitate their learning. I teach the core subjects including English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. My favorite subjects to tutor are reading and math. I believe that every child is capable of learning, but every child doesn't learn the same way or at the same rate. It is my job to help my students learn and realize that they are capable of learning. At the elementary level I also need to help motivate students to want to improve and meet their learning goals. Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family, exploring local parks, reading, and jogging with my dog.
Hobbies & Interests
My interests include reading, hiking, being in nature, going to state parks and nature preserves, gardening, and taking day trips.
