It is my hope that you realize that you can do anything that you put your mind to with a little bit of help and a whole lot of practice. My goal is to help you meet success and to help you understand that you can have fun while learning new and frustrating material. I am Christyl Powell Braxton, I have been employed in the public school system for 18 years. I currently teach high school Special Education students grades 9-12. I have a Bachelor' s Degree in English, a Master's in Reading Development & Instruction and Curriculum. I am now enrolled in a P.H.D. program focusing on Special Education Administration. The subjects I have taught as a Special Educator include English (6-12), Algebra 1 & 2, Probability & Statistics, Geography, U.S. History, and World History. I also am a case manager, which means I have years of experience providing individualized education assessments, instruction, and support. My goal is to make learning an enjoyable experience for everyone...we can do anything together!!!

I love all things creative and I use this love of creativity to teach kids how to create academically strong work. I currently am the coordinator of the school band, fashion program, and a senior advisor. When I'm not at work I design t-shirts and hoodies for local sports teams and organizations. You may catch me torching some metals for jewelry-making or designing/sewing something new. I also love, love, love, to read and being silly with my family...those are my favorite hobbies of all!!
