- I specialize in literacy intervention for students with significant hurdles, including dyslexia.
About Me
With 20 years in the classroom, I have seen firsthand that every child can become a skilled reader with the right techniques and consistent support. While I began my career in high school education, I found my true calling in the early grades—specifically 2nd and 3rd Grade—where the transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn" is so critical. Utilizing evidence-based programs like UFLI, I identify specific gaps in phonics and decoding to help students bridge grade-level divides and jump multiple reading levels with confidence. For math, If one explanation isn't clicking, I have a toolkit of alternative strategies and visual tools to help concepts "stick." I am highly familiar with standardized testing requirements and can provide targeted, low-stress prep for children. As a retired teacher, I enjoy traveling and painting when I am not tutoring students.
Hobbies & Interests
I love watercolor and oil painting. I am an avid reader and I pick up any reading material in any subject that interests me. Traveling is also one of my passions and now that I am retired
