About Me
Many years ago, when I was a student in high school and college my favorite subject was math. The main reason I enjoyed math so much was because my father was also an engineer (Graduate of the Coast Guard Academy) and very passionate about math, and he spent a lot of time with me solving math problems. He made math seem fun! During my career at Lockheed Martin, I always enjoyed mentoring and training new hires. Over the years, I've found that I enjoy teaching and I have a lot of patience explaining technical concepts. I have been complimented many times by my former colleagues about my excellent teaching skills. Now that I'm retired and have the time to teach, I am excited about finding creative ways to make math fun for my students. To me, solving math problems and solving puzzles are synonymous. In addition to math, I'm also interested in teaching basic computer programming concepts and the game of chess. Let's make math fun again!
Hobbies & Interests
In my spare time I compete in chess tournaments and play Cribbage (a card game) with my friends. I am also an avid swimmer. I even utilize math when I’m swimming to count laps. I love gardening, especially in the Spring when the Texas bluebonnets and irises start blooming. I enjoy cooking and I’m currently perfecting my scone recipe. Finally, I’m polishing up my woodworking skills, building a professional workbench.
