About Me

With over five years of teaching and tutoring experience worldwide, and more than fifteen years working with children, I bring both expertise and passion to education. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History from Pomona College, with a focus on the history of Africa and the African Diaspora. My dedication to education has been a constant throughout my extensive travels. I've researched the impact of education in post-genocide Rwanda, assisted high school students in Nepal with college admissions essays, taught business English to hotel staff in China, and worked as a preschool teacher in Taiwan. I have experience teaching English Language Arts, phonics, grammar, English conversation, elementary math, and beginner Chinese. However, reading and writing remain my favorite subjects. As a tutor, my top priority is understanding each student's unique needs, background, and talents. This enables me to tailor lessons for success, ensuring students leave each session with a sense of accomplishment and greater confidence. My hope as a tutor is to be a source of continuous support and encouragement for all my students. I value open, honest communication with families. By working together, we can ensure that students receive the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading, baking cinnamon rolls, and spending time with my dog.
