As I grew up, I would try out different strategies in order to help me learn more effectively. The ones that worked, I kept. The ones that did not work, I stopped using them. The more I found strategies that worked, I began to be better in school. The better I performed, the more confidence I gained. Over the last 11 years, I have made my career in teaching at the undergraduate level. The experience is one that has come with its challenges, but has been so rewarding at the same time. The fact that I understand what it means to struggle in learning has made me a more effective educator and tutor. Once a student is able to identify the barriers to learning, it becomes a matter of establishing processes in order to overcome those barriers and build their confidence.
