About Me
As an accomplished educator with over 16 years of dedicated service in education, I am fervently passionate about empowering students and fostering their academic growth. My educational journey includes a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction with specializations in ESL & LBS II, a Master's degree in Principal Leadership, and a Master's in Education Technology. Currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) program in Strategic Educational Leadership at National Louis University, I am committed to advancing my knowledge to better serve the educational community. Throughout my diverse roles, including special education teacher, co-teacher, district-appointed homebound tutor, and Transition Specialist, I have been privileged to witness the transformative power of education. My teaching philosophy revolves around change management, problem-solving, teamwork, and fostering diversity and inclusiveness. I am proficient in facilitating change, managing dialogue and inquiry, and contributing to the broader educational landscape. A recent recipient of the "2022-2023 Aspiring Leaders Scholarship" from the Illinois Principal Association, I actively engage in organizations like Teach Plus, serving as a district liaison and affinity group facilitator and contributing to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council (DEAC). Subjects within my tutoring purview span a broad spectrum, aligning with my comprehensive background. However, my deepest passion lies in guiding students through ESL, LBS II, and technology-focused subjects. I believe in creating a dynamic learning environment where students not only grasp academic concepts but also develop critical thinking skills for lifelong success. Beyond academia, my interests include advocating for positive changes in education policy. I actively participate in the Illinois Principal Association Legislative Committee, working towards policies that enhance the quality of education and support the diverse needs of our schools. I am also deeply involved in community service, serving on the board of Midwest Christian Montessori School and as Co-Director of Communication for the Sister(HOOD) of Hope, a non-profit organization. In essence, my commitment to education, paired with a diverse skill set and extensive experience, positions me as a dynamic and dedicated educator ready to make a lasting impact on the academic journey of every student I encounter.
