I am history teacher in Virginia, primarily teaching World History. I currently teach the AP World History modern course and a World History and Geography course, which focuses on the world from 1500 to the present. My belief is that my roles as a teacher is to help students develop the skills necessary to succeed both inside and out of the classroom. Knowing specific information is important to succeeding in a given class, however skills such as: communicating, explaining, synthesizing, and writing are skills that are transferrable between classes and life outside of school. Education is not something that is meant to be in a vacuum. I believe in making connections to the current world and what we are learning and trying to help students understand how they can have an impact both currently and in the future.
