Hello everyone! As someone who was often overlooked in school due to learning differences, I know how important it is to have someone in your corner who believes in you and takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense. I'm currently working toward my degree in Middle Grades Mathematics Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with students from middle school to college, through informal tutoring with peers and hands-on experience in my college fieldwork. My specialty is tutoring math from Kindergarten through 9th grade, but I also enjoy supporting students at the elementary level in all subjects. Math is my favorite subject to tutor because there's always a right answer, it's like solving a puzzle. I love finding different ways to explain math concepts so that they finally click for each student. Whether that means using visuals, games, real-life examples, or simply slowing things down, I believe everyone can learn math with the right approach. My teaching philosophy centers around building strong, positive relationships with students. When students feel seen, supported, and understood, they become more engaged and confident. I make it a point to connect with my students on a personal level, and I create interactive, thoughtful lessons to keep them involved and interested. I am a huge nerd at heart! I love all kinds of video games, anime, cartoons, you name it! I also love going out with friends and exploring the town and finding new things to do! Another favorite interest of mine is martial arts! I have trained in karate and Brazilian jiu jitsu and I love the community!
