- My goal is to empower students to see math as an enjoyable and essential tool for their future success.
About Me
As a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with a Master's in Education and a Bachelor's in Secondary Math Education from Grace College, I have dedicated over 25 years to teaching and tutoring math, specializing in Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and ACT/SAT Math preparation. My approach is centered on fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, guiding students through their challenges with patience and humor. I believe in tailoring lessons to connect mathematical concepts to real-life scenarios, such as using sports or everyday situations to enhance engagement. Through story problems and practical applications, I lead my students through logical steps which reinforce a supportive learning environment.
Hobbies & Interests
In my free time, my wife and I enjoy the therapeutic fresh air and tasty products of gardening, shopping with family (especially when donuts or boba tea is involved), and playing chess. Around the holidays, I facilitate competitive matches of ping-pong with my students at school. I am a huge superhero movie fan but also get intrigued by mysteries and action films. Bowling, dodgeball, and volleyball are among the sports at the top of my list. My reading preferences include The Holy Bible, prophecy research, and scientific inventions.
