About Me

I am a dedicated English educator and writer with a strong academic background and extensive experience supporting students at a variety of skill levels. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Colorado State University and am currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As a published poet and active writer, I bring both scholarly expertise and real-world writing experience to my tutoring practice. I am qualified to tutor students from middle school through adulthood in English reading, writing, editing, and creative writing. My experience includes tutoring middle and high school students, as well as working in university writing centers, where I assisted diverse learners with academic essays, research papers, personal statements, creative projects, and overall writing development. These experiences have strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching style to meet the unique needs of each student. My tutoring philosophy is student-centered and goal oriented. I believe that effective learning occurs when instruction is tailored to the individual, so I work closely with students to identify their objectives, strengths, and areas for growth. Whether a student is striving to improve reading comprehension, develop stronger writing skills, refine an essay, or cultivate their creative voice, I create flexible lesson plans that align with their goals and learning preferences. I am committed to fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking intellectual risks, and building confidence in their abilities. My combination of academic training, tutoring experience, and passion for language allows me to help students not only improve their skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for reading and writing.
