Voices for the Moment and Visions for Forever by Cameron - December 2025 Scholarship Essay

If I were running for student body president, the number one way I would hope to positively impact my school is by acting as a clear, reliable, and timely communicator for student voices. I believe it is important to be fast and present when communicating, especially when students have concerns or ideas that matter in the moment. I take pride in listening carefully and presenting others’ ideas honestly, respectfully, and effectively to different groups. I understand that administrators, teachers, and students all respond to different approaches, and I work to communicate ideas in a way that is direct, relevant, and productive so students feel heard and represented.

My personal experience has strongly shaped this goal. I founded my school’s Videography Club to give students a creative outlet and a platform to tell our own stories. Starting the club required leadership, organization, and clear communication with both students and staff. I learned how to turn many different ideas into a shared vision and how to represent others’ perspectives through filming and editing. This experience showed me how powerful permanent media can be in preserving memories and strengthening school identity long after events are over.

I am also a leader on the collaborative Library Desk Concert team, where I record and edit live performances for the LDC YouTube channel. This role requires teamwork, coordination, and responsibility, as well as communicating with musicians, librarians, and technical teams. Through this work, I have seen the importance of creating lasting contributions like videos, artwork, and performances that capture our school’s culture. As student body president, I would prioritize projects that leave something meaningful behind for future students to connect with and be proud of.
