During this session, the student and I worked on chemistry in preparation for her upcoming test. We focused on thermochemistry and enthalpy (sections 10.5 and 10.6 of her book). We practiced energy conversions of joules and calories as well as heating problems of the form Q=s*m*(delta)t. We also began working on constant pressure enthalpy problems and their relation to Hess' Law. I recommended that the student continue with some Hess' Law problems from 10.7 in order to prepare for her exam. I hope she does well!

Online Chemistry Tutoring review by Wesley
The student and I spent a lot of time working through thermochemistry. Gibbs free energy, heat of enthalpy, entropy and their relation. After working through a test regarding that, we spent our time going over intermolecular forces and the differences between them and intramolecular forces. After that we worked through organic chemistry and the nomenclature of molecules, their functional groups and how to properly name and categorize them.

What is Chemistry?

Chemistry is a core field of scientific study. It is often defined as the study of matter. Chemistry is a worthwhile topic of study because what we learn from it can help us describe and explain the world around us. Everything that we can see and touch is made of matter. This includes things that are essential to daily life, such as cars and food. It also includes our bodies. Having a solid understanding of chemistry is a great starting point for a variety of careers. However, even if you don't plan on working in an industry that requires chemistry knowledge, it's a good idea to spend some time studying chemistry.

When you sign up to work with a chemistry tutor, you can get help with a variety of different chemistry-related topics. For example, your instructor can help you study analytical chemistry. This is one of the main branches of chemistry study. Analytical chemistry focuses on the physical and chemical properties of substances that are identified and measured by using both quantitative and qualitative methods of observations. Or, perhaps you'd like help with studying physical chemistry. This branch of the field focuses on how matter and energy interact. It is a sub-discipline that involves important topics like quantum mechanics and thermodynamics.

Two more important chemistry branches are organic and inorganic chemistry. Organic chemistry focuses on studying compounds that contain carbon, including human life. Inorganic chemistry, on the other hand, is a field that studies non-carbon compounds like metals and gases. Chemistry tutors are available to help you study all of these chemistry topics and more. You'll be able to work with your instructor on the topics that are most relevant to you based on what you're covering in your class or what you need to know for your next important chemistry exam.

Chemistry looks at more than just what matter is. It also examines how matter interacts with other pieces of matter, how it responds to energy, and how other factors like electromagnetism can influence it. These are all topics that your chemistry tutor can help you understand on a deeper level. Consider reaching out to us today if you think that you would benefit from having an expert's guidance as you strive to learn more about these important chemistry topics.

If you're a high school student, then you may be interested in the American Chemical Society's High School Chemistry Education Standards. These can give you a good idea of whether or not your current chemistry knowledge is up to par with where it should be based on your education level. Some of the broad categories of knowledge that you should know about chemistry as a high school student are included next. For example, you should know about matter and its interactions, motion and stability, energy, and waves and electromagnetic radiation.

Chemistry and Testing

If you're a high school student who plans on studying chemistry in college, then you may also intend to take the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Chemistry Exam. This is a test that can signify your chemistry knowledge and may allow you to skip over an introductory college course on the subject. It's worthwhile taking this exam if you feel confident in your chemistry skill set and want to save yourself from having to relearn the same material once you begin college.

The CLEP Chemistry Exam is a 90-minute test. It features 75 questions that cover a number of important chemistry topics. For example, you'll need to know about things like the structure of matter, reaction types, kinetics, thermodynamics, descriptive chemistry, experimental chemistry, and more in order to do well on this test. When taking the CLEP Chemistry Exam, you'll be able to use a scientific calculator. That means if you're preparing for the test it's a good idea to spend some time using a scientific calculator so you know what to do on the day of your upcoming exam.

Working with chemistry tutors can help you get ready for exams like the CLEP Chemistry Exam that test for your understanding of chemistry. Your instructor can focus on the specific topics that are covered on your exam to make sure that you're ready to go when it's time to take your test. You'll be able to spend as much or as little time as you want on each topic to make sure that your learning process is efficient and effective as possible.

While your instructor is helping you expand your chemistry knowledge, they can also help you develop your general test-taking skill set. For example, they can spend some time showing you how to manage your time more effectively when taking tests with restrictive time limits. If you're someone who has dealt with test anxiety in the past, then your educator can also show you some relaxation techniques that you can utilize to overcome this if it happens while you're taking your test. Skills like these can be utilized on whatever exam you have coming up next as well as on any future tests that you take. This is just one example that indicates how chemistry tutoring is a well-rounded learning experience.

Why Should You Learn Chemistry?

There are a number of different applications for your chemistry knowledge. The subject is taught at both the high school and college level for a reason. A solid understanding of core chemistry principles is a great way to set yourself up for success in a number of different career opportunities. For example, some of the jobs that require a strong chemistry background include geoscientists, veterinarians, psychologists, nurses, chemical engineers, health educators, pharmacists, medical scientists, and more. In short, there are a number of different carers that you can have if you study chemistry at the collegiate level.

Why Work With a Chemistry Tutor?

When you decide to get started with the tutoring process, we'll begin by making every effort to connect you with instructors who are able to work around your schedule. This means that you can easily get the scholastic help that you're looking for without having to worry about it forcing you to make too many sacrifices in the other important parts of your life. Once you get connected with your instructor, you can begin working with them through a series of one-on-one lessons.

Your chemistry tutoring sessions can focus on whatever you need them to focus on. Your educator will work with you to create a customized lesson plan that is driven by your current level of understanding and your desired chemistry knowledge. You can take as much or as little time with each chemistry topic as you find is necessary. This creates a learning environment that is primed for growth. Whether you're preparing for a test or want to get help with your coursework, working with a private instructor provides a unique way to pursue academic progress.

For example, are you having a hard time understanding chemical reactions? If so, then your lessons can focus on things like the differences between the types of reactions, how to determine the resulting substances based on specific reactants, and more. You'll be able to get a well-rounded series of lessons that can help you get to where you want to be academically. This type of personalization in the learning process is key to what makes working with a private instructor such a rewarding educational experience. This type of assistance is hard to replicate through other methods of instruction like the traditional classroom learning environment. That's because even the best teachers don't often have enough time to help all of their students at this deep of a level.
