Tutoring review by Cortland in Omaha, NE
Today the student and I reviewed the concepts of unemployment and inflation from our previous session. We began new material with Section 17.2 of the text, which covers the use of fiscal policy to stimulate an economy. After defining the fiscal policy approach (the federal government's use of taxation and spending policies to affect overall economic activity), we discussed the ways in which fiscal policy impacts inflation and unemployment. From section 17.3, we covered monetarism and the monetary rule, as well as the historical significance of economists John Maynard Keynes and Milton Friedman. We have continued to use a new method of taking notes discussed in previous sessions -- he now uses heading and subheadings from the text to guide his note taking as opposed to solely recording key terms. While it is an adjustment for him, he has taken an interest in improving the quality of his notes. I consider that a serious win from this session.

Tutoring review by Steven in Omaha, NE
The student was working on a sort of amalgam course that brings many elements of electronics (from condensed matter and atomic physics, and electromagnetism) into one introductory course. As such, we talked about topics of solid band structure, the hydrogenic atom, and Ohm's law in a qualitative, but instructive, way that helped him get hold of some basic concepts.

Tutoring review by Ralph in Omaha, NE
Today, most of our time was spent on the student's math homework. There were 20 problems on addition and multiplication of fractions. Then, we worked on his "stations" work. We completed what he hadn't at school. He has a test Thursday, and I believe that he has picked up what he needs to do well on the test.

Tutoring review by Ruhiyyih in Omaha, NE
The first session was to gauge where the student is at with reading. First we read and easy book, then we went over some sounds that he had trouble with. He tends to see that word starts with a certain letter, and instead of sounding the word out, guesses another one that he thinks might make sense. I had him write out some words with letter combinations like 'st' 'nk' 'th,' etc. Last we read another book which took a little longer than the first.
