I am a graduate student living in New York and have been tutoring and teaching test prep classes for the past several years. I am an incoming Epidemiology and Global Health Master of Public Health student at the University of Minnesota. I received my undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Grinnell College in 2020 and also have extensive coursework in philosophy, biology, chemistry, and physics. I worked as a calculus tutor in Grinnell's math lab and tutored a professor's 8th grader in recreational math, competition problems, and ACT math test prep. I'm an alumni of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) and enjoy juggling, sudoku, and creating origami tessellations.

I am a supportive teacher but I always push my students to succeed. I don't teach based on what my students can already do, I teach based on where I know they are capable of going and what they are capable of doing. I also make sure to talk with them. No one knows how the students learn best more than the students themselves. I bring multiple approaches and vantage points, ready to hit every possible arena and hopefully perk the students' learning style at some point.

I am currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I was born into quite a small family of one sister and two brothers. My late father was a public servant, and my mother is a retired civil servant who is currently based in Accra, Ghana. My father died of an unknown sickness exactly a year when I graduated from college. I was born and raised in Accra, Ghana; Accra is the capital city of Ghana. All my family are based in Ghana, and I am the only one whos currently in the United States. Hobbies: art, movies, books, reading, cooking, music, writing

I'm experienced in and passionate about (especially computer skills, Python, and math) with others. I try to convey the principles and thought process that are the basis of my own understanding of the subject, not just rules to follow or things to memorize. Being able to explain your answer is even more important than simply getting it right! My tutoring style is personalized, with plenty of examples and frequent knowledge checks to ensure I and my student(s) are in sync. I am currently a student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and working toward a Master's in Counseling and School Personnel Psychology. I have worked with students in varies capacities, such as daycare facilities, summer school programs, and school environments. These settings have given me the opportunity to experience working with students from various cultures and backgrounds. The students I have worked with range in grade levels from elementary school all the way through college. I tutor in English, Art, Phonics, Reading, Social Studies, Social Sciences, Writing, essay editing, some test prep, and, of course, Psychology. I feel that my strengths lie in the areas of Psychology, Writing, Reading, and Essay Editing. I am passionate about enabling and empowering students within the realm of education (hence my current course of study) and can see this translating into every tutoring session. I want to make the tutor-tutee relationship a positive, educational, and fun one. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, photography, biking, cooking and baking, and listening to and playing music.

I am an Economics and Political Science major at the University of Minnesota. In addition to being a tutor at Grade Potential, I work as a debate coach at Como Park High School in St. Paul. I have previously worked as volunteer tutor at East Side Neighborhood Services and as a Resident Assistant at the University of Michigan Summer Debate Institute. This summer I will also be working with high school students at the Minnesota Debate and Advocacy Workshop. Hobbies: art, books, writing, reading, music

I am a senior undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities studying Genetics, Cell Biology and Development. After graduation, I will attend medical school (where is still being determined), where my goal is to become an academic physician who both cares for patients and educates residents and medical students. My favorite subjects are biology and chemistry, but I enjoy physics and humanities courses as well. My teaching experience includes teaching and tutoring summer school math (and doing some test prep work) to high school students in Rochester, MN. I also have given saxophone lessons. I love teaching, and I believe strongly in active, problem based learning. For science courses, I have considerable experience working in two cancer research labs, so I can help put that material in a real-world context. Outside of academics, I love playing and listening to music (I play jazz and blues saxophone), watching sports of all kinds, and playing basketball, golf and racquetball.

In my independent written work, I focus on issues of political economy, critical theory, and the social and political impacts of technology. I recently also have begun to work on a science fiction novel. In tutoring, I hope to encourage students to approach writing and language with ease and technical competence. I have extensive experience in many academic areas, and can help develop skills for large research projects, short essays, standardized test taking, and everything in between. Nothing is too complex to be broken down clearly and mastered!
