AP Pre-Calculus covers function analysis, trigonometry, and modeling at a pace that can overwhelm students who've only seen these topics casually. Joey's scientific computing work at Penn demanded fluency with polynomial behavior, transformations, and rate-of-change reasoning — exactly the skills this course tests. He teaches each unit by tying abstract function properties back to problems students can visualize.

I am a graduate from Rochester Institute of Technology with a master's in Game Design and Development. My passions lie in everything related to games and mathematics. In the past, I have tutored various subjects in mathematics throughout high school and college, including but not limited to Algebra, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematics of Graphical Simulation, and Linear Algebra. As for technology, I am more than happy to reach out for help in Web Development (HTML, CSS, Javascript) or C# programming. I believe that every person can learn any topic. While every individual has different tastes, strengths, and weaknesses, there is no such thing as an "incapability" to know a subject. Education often possesses a guise of anti-fun, but I can promise you that all topics can be engaging, and I am willing to show you how engaging mathematics and technology can be. As a Game Designer, I have a deep interest in both playing games and making games. This includes games of all kinds: video games, board games, tabletop role-playing games, trading card games, miniatures, and even some sports like tennis or ping pong. Games act as a fantastic teaching tool. They teach by design without users recognizing. It is always a satisfying moment when somebody says "I learned that word from Magic" or "D&D taught me that." Remember: you can succeed. If something is important to you, then it's always worthwhile.
During my Bachelor's studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, I was a mathematics and statistics tutor for a year, which I greatly enjoyed. I am currently a fourth-year Ph.D. student studying mathematics at the University of Florida. During my Ph.D. at the University of Florida, I was a teaching assistant for Calculus I, Calculus II, and Precalculus, and I was an instructor for a section of Calculus I. These experiences helped me develop my tutoring skills. Many students see math as a set of formulas that they can apply to the problems on their exams and homework. However, I feel that this way of thinking not only stifles true understanding, but also makes students' lives harder. My teaching philosophy is that if a strong conceptual understanding is built, then students will be well-equipped to answer any question that they can be asked. When I tutor, I make sure that students develop this foundation first and foremost.
Hi there, I'm Piyush, a freshmen at Oregon state university. I believe every student has the capacity to master complex topics and build confidence in themselves given enough time and the right tools. I do just that and teach my students how to think instead of what to think. I use analogies, visual indicators and various different explanations to teach a concept so it sticks. I am dynamic enough to change my tutoring style based on the kind of student I am teaching, whether it be direct or patient depending on the mindset of the student. I constantly review the change I am causing in the students with consistent skill-checks and mini-quizzes where I have the student explain the concept back to me to check their understanding. Overall, I am focused on creating the best tutoring experience for my students which includes keeping up with the curriculum myself. I am constantly studying advanced topics to make sure my explanations are as accurate as possible.
The moment AP Pre-Calculus shifts from 'solve this equation' to 'describe what this function is doing and why,' a lot of students lose their footing — and that's exactly the transition Sharif is built to coach. His deep calculus background (he teaches through AP Calculus BC) means he can trace every pre-calculus concept forward, showing students how mastering function behavior now pays off in the next course. He approaches each session by working backward from the reasoning the AP exam actually tests, not just the computations.
Before she found her footing in STEM, Riya struggled with the same abstract leaps that trip up most AP Pre-Calculus students — making sense of how trigonometric, exponential, and polynomial functions actually behave instead of just memorizing formulas. That personal experience shapes how she teaches the course now as a Computer Science major at Texas A&M, where she breaks down composition and transformation questions into concrete, step-by-step reasoning that builds real understanding. She's especially sharp at helping students bridge the gap between algebraic manipulation and the graphical interpretation the AP framework demands.
Hi! My name is Oscar, and I grew up in Washington, DC. I attended St. Olaf College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in mathematics in 2023. That year I started tutoring students online and I now have two years of post-college tutoring experience. Math is a subject many students find stressful or intimidating. It might make them anxious, or math might be their least favorite class, or both! No matter where a student is coming from, my goal is to create a low-stress environment where he or she feels comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I've worked with students from elementary school through college, often on Algebra or Algebra 2. I've helped students improve grades, understand tough homework and class concepts, prepare for the SAT and Regents exams, and get ahead by teaching future material.
Intensely curious, I am interested in STEM subjects and the liberal arts. I tutor to help you reach your educational goals and because it's immensely gratifying to see my students succeed.

If I have to sum up my professional life, I would say the following about my experience: Examiner with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for Higher Level (AA) Mathematics. Massachusetts State Teaching Certification: Licensed to teach Mathematics (6-12). Massachusetts State Teaching Certification: Licensed to teach Physics. Training: IB (Physics), IT (Industry). MBA in Finance. BS in Pure and Applied Mathematics. Diverse Classroom Experience spanning over 30 years teaching in USA, China, UAE, Qatar, Syria and Egypt within the IB (Analysis and Approaches as well as Applications and Interpretations), IGCSE and US HS (including AP) Diploma curricula. Multilingual capability with fluency in English and Urdu, and in Hindi. Familiarity with various world cultures and their values; well- traveled in Far East, South Asia, Middle East, North Africa, Europe and North America. I will be most happy to expand on any of the above as needed.
When I was in high school, I remember seeing the joy of my math teachers when they would teach in class. This inspired me to become a high school math teacher. The first step was becoming a peer tutor to my classmates. This lead to tutoring math to college students. Then tutoring students while working as a TA. Then I worked as a data scientist which not only did I understand more how to apply math in the workspace, but also learned how to explain math concepts to coworkers without a strong math background. This helped me to shape my tutoring philosophy to relate to the person being tutored and this opened the door to me teaching high school calculus 1 & calculus 2! I am currently teaching precalculus at a community college.
I have a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, with additional graduate studies in Chemical Engineering and Computer Science, and over 10 years of experience teaching and tutoring STEM subjects. I work with students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning styles in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and related subjects. I believe the best tutoring starts with understanding how each student thinks. My goal is to identify where a concept becomes unclear, explain it from the student's perspective, and help them build both understanding and confidence. I want my students to learn not just how to find the right answer, but why it is the right answer and how to approach similar problems independently. I believe there is always learning in teaching, and that is one of the reasons I continue to enjoy working with students after all these years.
Hello! My name is Mihir, and I'm a passionate and experienced math tutor with a strong academic foundation. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, where I concentrated in Discrete Mathematics and Logic and earned a Minor in Computer Science. I also completed my M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My background equips me with both deep mathematical knowledge and a problem-solving mindset that I bring into every tutoring session. I specialize in tutoring Math at the middle and high school levels. In the past, I've taught SAT Math, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and Algebra 1 and 2, among other subjects. My teaching approach focuses on building intuition and a sense of methodical problem-solving so that students can avoid memorization and cramming. I believe that this is the best way for students to be assured of their own skills and have confidence in tackling problems on their own.
Training AI models at Western University means Syed regularly implements the polynomial, trigonometric, and exponential functions that AP Pre-Calculus covers — fitting curves to data, tuning activation functions, and modeling nonlinear relationships all require genuine fluency with how these function families behave. His electrical engineering background at LUMS added a layer of signal-processing intuition that makes him especially sharp on trigonometric identities and periodic modeling, two areas where the AP exam demands more than rote computation. He walks students through the reasoning behind composition and transformation questions until the logic feels automatic, not memorized.
Hi! I'm Kavya, and I'm passionate about helping students build confidence and succeed in school. I tailor each lesson to a student's learning style, making concepts clear, engaging, and easy to understand. I specialize in math, from elementary concepts to algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, calculus, and college-level courses, focusing on true understanding rather than memorization.
