I am fulfilled by working with young people and watching them grow by way of their skills. My love for teaching started in a 10th grade classroom and has now moved to private education. As a tutor and teacher, I focus primarily on writing, reading, and grammar. I teach/tutor with an emphasis on student confidence, and diligence, as they are the keys to any successful academic pursuit. I begin by gaining students' trust and then take that trust into deeper, more nuanced work. I was raised in rural Idaho, and moved to New York City in 2005. Since then, I have lived and worked in Tokyo, Spain, France, New Mexico, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. I have a B.A. in English from the University of Washington, and an M.S. from the University of Pennsylvania - from where I graduated with honors. In 2010, I published my first novel, and I am currently at work on two new books, one about Authentic teaching, and the other, my second work of fiction. Writing is my first love, and I teach writing skills with the same passion that I write. I look forward to working with you, and helping you get where you want to go.
