In high school, I tutored elementary, middle, and high school students in music, math, ACT and SAT prep, and Spanish. At Harvard, I spent a year as a course assistant in the math department, helping to teach introductory undergraduate calculus. Currently, I volunteer with the Leadership Institute at Harvard College (LIHC) as part of its Social Outreach Committee. This work involves teaching a weekly course called "Fundamentals of Leadership" to a class of middle school students. Overall, I have found my experiences tutoring math to be the most rewarding. In all of these experiences, I have found it is helpful for students to work with someone relatively close to their own age. As someone who enjoys problem-solving for its own sake, I often find myself in the position of explaining difficult concepts and abstract ideas to people with very different backgrounds and personalities than my own. Generally, people learn best from examples they find relevant, interesting, and concrete. My main hobby outside of class is music. I play viola in both the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra and the Harvard Bach Society Orchestra; I also enjoy listening to music of many different genres, especially rock and classical. Additionally, I like going to the gym, watching HBO, and travelling.
