I obtained a diploma for teaching Spanish and French as a Second Language from the Education Canada College of Montreal, Canada. I also hold the highest diploma in French language and culture awarded by the French Ministry of Education. I also have my home country teachers certification from the University of Havana, Cuba. My years of experience teaching foreign languages internationally has allowed me to see a shift in teaching methodologies from a grammar-centered approach to a communication-centered approach. The qualities I try to instill in my students are to strive for personal excellence and overcome obstacles. I see myself as guide on my students route towards further knowledge. My teaching strategy is to rapidly identify the needs, weaknesses and strengths of my students so I can better adapt my teaching methodology to best suit their needs. Once I have identified the different learning styles I can develop a variety of activities and methodologies that address these needs. I encourage my students to freely ask questions, express doubts and to never hesitate to express ideas during the lessons. I consider that in a foreign language class it is necessary to develop the four basic skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. All the while, I emphasize the speaking aspect because it is the most rewarding to the student. I focus on interaction within the classroom maximizing the amount of foreign language used by my students. Finally, I consider teaching my biggest passion and I put all my effort on it. It is a great satisfaction to help others conquer their educational dreams.
