Not because they lack any type of mental facility, but because the material may not have been presented to them properly or more likely the case, the fundamentals needed to grasp the material are weak. I find that the lack of fundamentals is the key reasons people struggle grasping a subject matter, specifically in math and sciences. I hope to help a student learn the basis for their struggles and introduce them to how to learn more than what to learn. Understanding one's own weakness is key to learning. I hope to help the student be more introspective. Instead of saying "This is too hard", I want them to ask "Why is this too hard, and how can I fix my shortcoming?".
