Working one on one allows me to get to know the student and allows me to uncover any gaps in their prior knowledge that may be confusing them, or prohibiting them to be successful in their course. I also enjoy working one on one with a student because it gives me more of an opportunity to discover the student's learning style. I could then better instruct the student at their level and using their learning style of the best outcomes.
