  • I love teaching and learning.
  • To me, it is a life-long pursuit, with an infinite reward.

About Me

I understand that science and math can be challenging, as they were for me when I was in school. I was fortunate to have some incredible teachers that helped me in ways that empowered my learning potential for the rest of my life. My approach is to help you figure out what tools you need to succeed, in both the specific subject matter as well as skills that are required for acquiring knowledge in general. By learning concepts, and how things work on the most basic level, we can build together a more complex understanding. I avoid memorization when possible because I don't believe that will stick with you in the end. I want you to be able to think through problems, derive formulas when necessary, and apply both rational and creative thinking to understand material. Although I have not tutored extensively, I bring 15 years of practical science research experience, contributing to 9 publications in the field of cancer research. In addition, I am a performer and an artist, so I love engaging with people, and finding entertaining ways to approach subjects. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy working in a science lab at Rockefeller University, making my own performance work, cooking meals with friends, and absorbing all that NYC has to offer.

Hobbies & Interests

My interest in teaching is to remove obstacles, both real and imagined, so that students may have greater access to their innate learning potential. I believe my extensive background as a scientist and performer for over 15 years gives me a unique skill set to create a learning environment. I am genuinely interested in the interface between the content students are asked to learn in school for tests, and how they may apply that knowledge in the real world. Especially in sciences and math, material can seem abstract or complicated, and I like to move between the larger picture into the specifics, so students can keep engaged and interested. Learning can be fun! I wish to bring to all my students a sense of possibility and excitement in order to activate and empower curiosity and help them become rigorous life-long learners.
