About Me

Francois graduated in Fall 2016 with a Bachelor of Technology in Telecommunication Engineering Technology from New York City College of technology. Through this Peer-Led Team Learning program, he has facilitated students learning in Remedial Math, Algebra and Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I and II. He learned through this experience how to explain concepts in many different ways so that students with diverse learning styles and experiences are able to master the topic and learn to work together as a team in solving problems. In his first semester as part of the peer leader training, he conducted research for his final project using theories of relational leadership, and presented this at the 4th Annual Conference of the Peer-Led Team Learning International Society held in May 2015 at the University of Texas at Dallas. A paper, based on this research, will be published as part of the 2015 Conference Proceedings. He is also serving as a Peer Facilitator for 9th graders as part of a college preparation program called Bridging the Gap, helping the students improve their problem-solving skills in algebra, and develop soft skills to help them navigate school. Francois is a member of Honors Scholars Program, National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), Student Success Leader and Black Male Initiative (BMI) where he spends his entire undergrad to mentor and tutor his fellows in STEM related subject. Hence, his time is splitting between assisting, mentoring, tutoring fellow students while he is a scholar conducting research. Francois was a Scholar of Integrated Optics for Undergraduates (IOU) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Columbia University. He conducted research on Programmable 4x4 Silicon Photonic Switch Fabric Composed of Mach Zehnder Interferometer (MZI). He is a former scholar of the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Satellite and Ground-Based Remote Sensing at the Cooperative Remote Sensing Science and Technology (CREST) center, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). He got selected to be part of Microsoft Research Data Science Summer School for summer 2017. He got accepted at Cornel University to pursue a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
