10+ years of tutoring
Miranda
- I am excited to tutor biology, chemistry (general and organic), and subjects at their interface.
- I know firsthand that studying science can feel daunting, but it can also be incredibly fun.
About Me
I received my bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Pitzer College in spring 2020. While at Pitzer, I worked as an organic chemistry lab teaching assistant for two years, supporting students as they learned numerous techniques in the lab and completed worksheets during my office hours. As a tutor, I prefer to emphasize general principles over memorizing lots of details; I believe that students gain deeper understanding of the material when they are the ones to draw connections and solve problems. Different explanations make sense to different people, so I am happy to use literal and technical language, analogies, or a combination thereof to explain scientific concepts. My goal is to provide high-quality instruction and unconditional encouragement so that every student can thrive as a scientist.
