Donna
- I am passionate about teaching reading, and I love my work as a reading specialist/interventionist.
About Me
I taught for 41 years, and I also worked as the school principal for 16 years. I have taught all of the grades from preschool through grade eight. I also provided literacy themed professional development with teachers with Concordia University. I am currently teaching literacy classes at Depaul University. I am writing my dissertation regarding explicit instruction of reading skills. I believe learning about a child, and their skills, is key to creating targeted, differentiated instruction for him/her. I also believe it is important to help readers find text with which they can connect and enjoy. Reading opens doors - it is exciting to see those doors open for learners.
