Certified Tutor

I studied English Literature and Theatre at Temple University. I have years of experience as a writing tutor at Temple University, where I worked with graduate and undergraduate students in all majors. I enjoy tutoring because, since I did well in school and am confident in my own writing/reading/grammar abilities, I find enjoyment in passing along any skills I have acquired to someone who is struggling or who simply wants to learn more.

I believe that the most effective way to improve is to work collaboratively with the student. I am there to guide the student in their work, while directing them in discovering the ideas or correct answers themselves. Being a creative person really influences my style as a tutor, as I can adapt to any challenge easily and also can incorporate one or multiple strategies as is needed in the session.

My goal as a tutor is to help the student become an independent learner. The best way to become a better student is to learn how to think on your own and to creatively search for solutions. This goes beyond merely correcting assignments and feeding the students the "correct" answers.
