Certified Tutor

I am a 2015 graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education with a minor in Speech Communications. My endorsements are in middle school, English/Language Arts, Speech Communication, and Social Sciences. During classroom observation and student teaching, I helped students with research papers, college admission essays, creative writing, reading, ACT prep, and grammar. Additionally, I have had many years of experience helping my children with their studies. I am passionate about reading; I love helping students with literature and other reading assignments. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the moment a student reaches that "a-ha" moment with anything we are working on. I love working one-on-one with a student because I like being able to help them find their strengths and that is more easily accomplished through tutoring. I believe learning should be fun. If a student can find an enjoyment in learning they are more likely to remember what they are learning and be able to think critically about any task. Anytime I can help a student master a skill in a fun way, I will incorporate it into my teaching. I love finding ways to bring personal interests into the learning process. When I am not teaching or in school, you can find me doing one of many activities, such as, reading, crafting, DIY home improvement projects, running, playing kickball, swimming, traveling to the beach, or hanging out with my children and husband.
