What is your teaching philosophy?
It is important to teach the concept and methodology of how to solve problems so they can be reapplied to future problems.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Sit down and talk about what the student wants from a tutor and explain how I can give that to him/her.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By teaching and enabling them to understand the concepts and principles of the subject they are learning, so they can adapt to the proper mindset and attitude to attack the problems.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Always provide positive reinforcement when the student makes progress in learning and retaining subject matter!
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Look for where the student got lost, readdress it, and see if there is another approach that the student can understand.
