Certified Tutor
Hi everyone! My name is Catherina, and I am currently a student at Fordham University working towards a BA in Applied Mathematics and Economics. I love anything involving the outdoors, from nature walks to outdoor sports. I live in the great City of New York and spend my free time visiting museums and seeing the fascinating spots the city has to offer. I found an interest in tutoring in high school and continue it today because I love helping students understand material in a way that is easily understood by all. Nothing makes me more happy than the brightened face on a student content with working on a subject they previously struggled with. I work with all ages and abilities while striving to reach every individuals end goal. I hope to help you, too!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe it is important to teach in a way that is engaging, thought provoking, and effective. To do this, I find ways to make material easy to understand and make subjects accessible to all ages and abilities.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session, it is important to get a feel for the students' abilities. Seeing where their struggles are and where improvement is needed can do this. Observing strong points is necessary too.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I help students stay motivated by reminding them of their goal and assuring them that no goal is unattainable!
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept I would break the material down to its simplest from. That way, we can start from the beginning and see where the confusion is occurring.
