I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and have lived in the area my whole life. Currently, I'm studying Psychology on the Pre-Med track at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In high school, I was a big nerd and competed on Math Team and Scholastic Bowl, and graduated on the Honor Roll. I was also was super involved in my school's Speech and Acting Team, particularly in Prose Reading, Dramatic Duet Acting, and Oratorical Declamation (for those of you familiar with those events)! I'm not a total athlete but I love badminton and played on my high school's team for three years, and also play on the club team at UIC. Other random facts about me are that I was in my senior year spring musical, can play piano, can knit, and love to laugh!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In the first session with a student, I would like to spend just a few moments getting to know the student on a more personal level--interests, hobbies, and anything else that seems to be going on in his or her life. It will give me a better idea of whom I'm working with, and also help me understand any issues or stress levels. Then, diving into academics, I would like to hear the student talk about his or her strengths, weaknesses, and goals for the tutoring sessions. I would definitely also like to map out a general plan for the next few sessions to help keep us on track to achieve these goals!
