We all learn differently. As Albert Einstein said, "Study is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think." Thomas Edison said only five percent of people think; another 10 percent think they think; and 85 percent would rather die than think. Let me help you be one of the five.

What is your teaching philosophy?

We all learn differently and at our own pace. Also, we often know more than we think we do. We just need to ask the right questions. Tutoring should be about identifying where a student is having problems, and then helping them devise their own strategies to address those problems and find answers on their own.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Ask them what it is that is giving them difficulty with the subject, and then work through a few examples to see what they might be doing wrong.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Encourage them to ask questions, and then direct them toward resources where they can find answers to those questions.
