I am a graduate with a B.S. Biology and minor in Chemistry, I have a big passion for science and have been tutoring for about 6 years. I was a Teachers assistant for both Biology, Chemistry and other subjects. I want my students to achieve and excel in their subjects. Studying can be challenging but I believe that studying smarter, rather than harder is a key step in succeeding in your academic career. I am. currently pursuing my MD, l and do research in biomedical sciences. In my fields I see the importance of knowledge in biology and chemistry. I enjoy teaching, my first language is Spanish, I also like to orient students in achieving their goals particularly those who want to pursue something in the field of medicine, as this is my field.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would keep approaching the problem in different ways until the concepts are understood.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduce myself, talk about their interests, and chat a little bit.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By practicing and giving the student confidence in his/her abilities.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I would approach the reading as if I was telling a story, rather than by solving a problem.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Using jokes or relating the material to with everyday activities, like sports or food.
