Certified Tutor

I am a passionate and dedicated educator, tutor, and life-long learner. I currently teach eighth grade English at a public school district on Long Island. I have previous experience teaching English in Queens while employed with the New York City Department of Education. Aside from general homework and classwork assistance, I have tutoring experience in building reading comprehension and writing skills. I have also worked to prepare students for the reading and writing based sections of the ACT and SAT exams. Additionally, I have worked closely with students throughout the writing process of their college admissions essay.

I attended Binghamton University, which Business Insider claimed to be New York's "smartest SUNY school." I majored in English Literature and Rhetoric and was provided with an extensive knowledge of reading and writing skills. I obtained my master's in Adolescent Special Education from CUNY Queens College, and I am currently enrolled in SUNY Stony Brook's Educational Leadership Program. I am well-versed in the Common Core Standards as well as the expectations of New York State exams. I am knowledgeable of the strategies needed to master the ACT and SAT exams and can help any student reach his or her potential.

My favorite part of this profession and the tutoring experience is getting the opportunity to watch a student grow throughout the process! I am easygoing, patient, and always experience success with all students I teach and tutor. I am very flexible and open to scheduling tutoring sessions in person or online.
