Certified Tutor

I earned both my bachelor's and a master's degrees from The University of Georgia. My A.B. is in English, and my M.Ed. is in English Education.

I began my career in education teaching sixth grade Social Studies and English. After a 2003 trip to Greece and Turkey I was fascinated by the latter country so much that I eventually began working on becoming certified to teach ESL abroad. I later received my certificate after I had taught at schools in Istanbul and Izmit, Turkey. I have also taught English to senior secondary (high school) students in the African nation of Botswana. I have continued to teach in Turkey off and on up to 2015.

Currently I teach English online with Topica Native, which is an edtech group based in Vietnam. My students are majority professionals and business people besides some college and high school students. At this time, most of my students live in Thailand. Over the years I have taught a wide array of age groups.

I am passionate about teaching because even though an idealistic concept I would love to see everyone live up to their educational and intellectual potential, be creative and capable of thinking critically. The early years of our lives are heavily based in the home and at school. The home and the school have the greatest impact on a person's life. Being an educator, I am a part of the process of human development, and I do my best to help.

My interests outside of academia are reading across genres, drawing, writing, studying current events and social trends, listening to music, travel, surfing the internet for research and to seek out reading material (especially obscure books), and watching documentaries.
