Certified Tutor

It is my personal belief that every person can learn. It is our duty to do our best to find the key to unlock the path to their best learning. That is my job, my mission.

I hold a AA teaching certificate in my state in the following areas: K-4, 5-8, SPED K-12, Vocal Music K-12, Instrumental Music K-12.

I taught in the public school system in my home state for 26 years. I taught grades Pre-K DD, 2nd Grade self-contained and team, 4th Grade self-contained, 5th Grade self-contained and departmentalized (Math and Science), 6th Grade (Science and Language Arts), 5-7th SPED, 7th & 8th Grade General Math, Middle and High School Piano Lab, and High School Band.

During my teaching career, my teaching philosophy and methods changed as I developed and matured as a teacher and as a person. I was originally a music teacher, but soon cross-certified to be able to teach K-8 in all subject areas. I also worked hard for, and received in one try, my National Teacher Certification shortly after this program came into existence in the '90s. Through my teaching tenure, and due in large part to my making students be facilitators in their own learning, I had 13 students at a nearby university choose to do their student teaching under by mentorship.

My late-husband and I had two children who each have two children. Since both families are in the military, I don't see my grandchildren (nor my children) as often as I like. My husband now (we met on Match and have been married for 12 years) and I together have eight grandchildren and five children. It makes life fun.
