I graduated as a chartered physiotherapist in 1987 and I have been Lecturer at University of Salford since Jan 1997. I am the year 1 manager for incoming undergraduate students. From 1990-1993 I was the Physiotherapist to the Women's Football squad and in 2009 was the first person awarded the teaching excellence prize at my University. In 2015, my students for two awards, best teacher and best postgraduate supervisor nominated me. And again in 2017 for best teacher

I lecture at Corpus Christi Cambridge where I am Medical Director for the Medical Summer programme for students from Nan Jing China. I have written eight books that have now been now translated into eleven Languages. I hold a PhD in exercise behaviour in rheumatology. In November 2018, I will be visiting professor at the Universidade Paulina, Sao Paulo. Brazil where I will be the keynote speaker on the topic of ankylosing spondylitis, presentation title" Ankylosing spondylitis: history pathology and patient reaction to anthropometric change, "and my book "Psychologically informed physiotherapy." I will also be teaching in Brazil for two days.
