Rasha Mae

Certified Tutor

Hi, I'm Rasha! I am a high school graduate of Blaine High School, MN and a current student at Bethel University. Ever since I was young, I wanted to be a teacher, so I was always willing to help my family, friends, and classmates understand concepts and problems whenever I can. Later on, I found the most strength and interest in math, so to reach my dream career, I decided to study at Bethel to become a 5-12 Math Teacher! Meanwhile, I became a tutor to start making an impact on students sooner -- whether that's through helping on solving a problem, grasping a concept, getting test-taking tips, or falling in love with the subject I teach.

The subjects I tutor are American Sign Language, Java, and elementary to college-level Math. In addition to doing well in these courses, I gained more experience in extracurriculars, such as ASL club, where I could enhance my language skills and awareness of Deaf culture. I was also in the Center for Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (CEMS) Program, which has helped expand my math, science, and computer skills, as well as creativity, teamwork, and communication.

As for teaching experiences, other than the casual help I give friends and family, I have volunteered as a Nursery/Sunday School teacher and Preschool teacher assistant when I was young. Currently, I continue to expand my experience in my college education courses, practicums, and jobs as a teacher assistant and tutor.

Throughout my experience, I was told that I am a kind, patient, hard-working, creative, and open-minded person. I believe everyone is unique with different areas of strengths and interests. My philosophy is to expand on those strengths to make learning efficient, and tie in their interests to make learning more fun. As a current student, I also understand that there is so much to learn in every class, so I would be happy to give you some fun little memorization techniques and study tips along the way.

There are times when learning is easy, and there are many more times when learning is hard, but these hard curves are the most memorable and exciting once you finally get it. I look forward to taking part in that learning journey with you!
