Certified Tutor

In my career as an instructor I have taught at the university and collegiate level (Hunter College, Westchester Community College, and the University of Florida) as well as the high school level (Metropolitan High School, the Bronx). My experience has been both deep and diverse. At the university level I have taught a wide variety of courses on film, media, and composition, including Film Analysis, Writing Through Media, Rhetoric and Academic Research, and Expository Writing. Some of these courses were of my own design, while others were discussion sections for larger lecture courses and courses built on pre-existing syllabi. At the high school level I taught English Language Arts for 11th and 12th graders -- my 12th grade class was Advanced Placement for English Literature. I am currently tutoring students in English Language Arts, including instruction in verbal skills, essay writing, reading comprehension, and test preparation (Regents, SATs). My students have come from urban, suburban, and rural backgrounds, and I have taught students with disabilities and students for whom English is a second language.
