I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I graduated from Valparaiso University (Valpo) with a double major in Mathematics and Statistics, along with minors in Actuarial Science and Computer Science. I have passed SOA Exam P and FM to be more qualified as an actuary. I am a part of the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. For this upcoming Fall, I will be going back to Valpo to obtain a Master's in Economics. While at Valpo, I graded assignments for about 2-3 years, and officially tutored low-level college mathematics for my last year. During this summer, I plan to tutor for many different companies along with Varsity Tutors. I have been recently studying for the GRE and SOA Exam IFM.

Throughout my tutoring career, every session has felt rewarding. It is always nice to hear that a student raised their grade from a D to a B or passed their final exam due to my assistance. Within all my tutoring sessions, I always try to make it apparent to the student that they should feel comfortable to ask any question they have. In classroom settings, there is that subtle balance between asking too many questions that will slow down the lesson and not enough questions that you will not understand enough for future material. With 1-on-1 tutoring, I do not feel comfortable moving on to another question until you feel comfortable doing so. To be expected, I mainly prefer using a whiteboard to tutor. Furthermore, due to recent events, I have grown much more comfortable for online tutoring compared to in-person tutoring.
